A manufacturer is defined as a company that introduces any motorcycle (no minimum or maximum quantity) into US commerce (builds, imports or sells).

How much do the emissions tests cost?
Testing costs run from $2,500 for a single test up to $25,000 for a full program.

How long does it take for TET to complete the emission testing process?
The process takes 30 – 90 days.

Does TET have a CARB certification process?
Yes, TET has the CARB certification process. CARB can be run separately or combined with the Emissions Testing Program.


Does TET provide consulting services for the manufacturer during this process?
Yes, TET consults with manufacturers throughout the mile accumulation process and will notify the manufacturer of any problems or failures that may occur with the vehicle.

Does TET assist the manufacturer in making sure that the vehicle is properly tuned to pass the test?
TET completes initial tuning of the vehicle. The vehicle undergoes a 0 mile test that indicates how the vehicle will run during the testing process.

Will the vehicle pass DOT regulations?
TET can consult on the DOT process.

Does TET have a noise emission certification process?
Yes.




What parts are regulated by DOT?
Controls and displays, brake hoses, lamps, reflective devices and associated equipment, new pneumatic tires, tire selection and rims, rearview mirrors, motor vehicle brake fluids, tire selection and rims for motor vehicles other than passenger cars, motorcycle brake systems, motorcycle controls and displays, motorcycle helmets.

TET consults with manufacturers regarding the National Highway Safety Administration requirements and regulations.

What will happen if the vehicle does not pass the test?
The manufacturer will need to correct the cause of the failure and the testing will need to be repeated.
